What is a Public Insurance Adjuster?

A Public Insurance Adjuster is a professional who has expert knowledge on property loss adjustments. Public Adjusters are hired by the general public (homeowners, property owners, commercial property and business owners) to assist in preparing and negotiating fair and equitable adjustments of insurance claims.

Why Should I hire a Public Insurance Adjuster?

Public Adjusters assist you with every phase of preparing and presenting your insurance claim. We negotiate on your behalf to reach a favorable adjustment for you which includes everything that you are entitled to under your insurance policy.

How can a Public Adjuster better serve me over an Insurance Company Adjuster?

The insurance company adjuster is employed exclusively by the insurance company where his loyalties are. It is his obligation to strike a balance between your interests and those of his company. We are your exclusive representatives and will work for your best interests only. Our experience in claim management and the claims process makes us far more capable of providing a satisfactory adjustment.

Is a State License required to be a Public Insurance Adjuster?

Yes, in order to become licensed and extend adjustment services to the public, an adjuster must first pass a strict test on insurance laws, materials, costs and building procedures. The adjuster will also remain up to date on changing laws, and proper handling of claims.

Why shouldn’t I wait to hire a Public Insurance Adjuster?

At the onset, the insurance company makes a dollar evaluation of your loss at the time they first inspect it. This is called a “reserve” and is an absolute requirement in most states. The adjuster bases his “reserve” solely upon his inspection, your knowledge of the loss, and additional information you may remember to tell him. He is hired and paid by the insurance company so his interest is how to protect his employer. Unless some agreements are made initially regarding the scope of the damages and what is to be done next (such as temporary repairs, temporary business or living quarters, cleaners, etc.) serious problems could arise that may jeopardize the final settlement figures. We will also help eliminate the possibility of “forgotten items” that may have been overlooked by yourself or the insurance company adjuster.

To avoid misunderstandings, long delays and reduced settlement figures, it is wise to hire a professional public adjuster to deal with theses possible problems before they occur. A Public Insurance Adjuster should be hired immediately after a loss has occurred in order to protect all of your interests.
